Marine
Biology
Ebiosea Project The
EBIOSEA PROJECT aims to
design an effective marine bioprospecting model which not only takes
into consideration the sustainability of natural resources but strives
to ecologically exploit marine resources. By means of careful planning
and research the EBIOSEA project evaluates the enormous potential of
marine organisms as sources of biomolecules that can in turn be successfully
applied to human and animal health. Through experimental investigation,
the EBIOSEA project has already confirmed the potential of marine biodiversity
in supplying an array of novel natural active ingredients for nutraceutical
development. The biomolecules already found, range in their origin from
teleost & cartilaginous fishes, bivalve & cephalopod molluscs
to macro-algae. These have resulted in an extensive portfolio of new
compounds and we currently hold a total of more than 10 patents with
proven therapeutic properties published in international scientific
journals.
